Maggie doesn't like sitting still for long. I was lucky enough to have the camera ready when she took a rest this time. About 5 seconds after this was taken she spotted a group of deer at the edge of the field. I don't have to tell you what she decided to do next.

An abandonded house on Back Beach near my childhood home.

Sometimes the camera is nearby when the light is just right. Taking the color out of a picture seems to make it timeless.

I usually bring the camera along in the kayak. This was near the end of paddle on Williamstown Lake in Lakeville, NB.

This little fellow was sitting in a tree by my house. I had just returned from a hike with one of my dogs. I had my camera along for the hike but didn't find anything until almost back to the house. It is a Barred Owl. It did not spook easily. It flew off after a few minutes of me taking pictures, which was immediately after the dog started barking at it.

I get a little freaked out if I stare at his eyes for too long.

Satisfaction

There is something very satisfying about capturing a moment in time in a well composed photo. I take a lot of pictures. Sometimes I am lucky and one jumps out from a pile of quick shots. Sometimes I take the necessary time to get a good one. I don't have a lot of lens options. Someday I hope to expand my arsenal of camera gear and see where it leads me.

Today I shoot with...

- Canon 30D DSLR
- Kit lens - 18-55mm
- Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM
- Sigma 75-300mm
- lensbaby 2.0
- basic tripod

- filters: circ pol, haze, soft focus, UV
